What is the metaverse?

 Put simply...






1: It is whatever YOU want or need it to be.

2: Anything one can do in reality, done in virtual spaces and then linked up. 

3: It is an interactive and 3-D world. Digital assets as substitute dress rehearsals for real world counterparts!

4: Yes, you need an 'avatar' name / role/ character. No, that is not an end in itself but merely means TO an end!

5: Yes: it is indeed, connected to 'crypto' and block chain currencies. No, one need not play with those tools in order to engage with said metaverse. 

6: Is it web-3? Sure it is! As in, more interactive than web 1 (the basic internet circa dial up days) and web 2 (social media etc). Now? web 3: one can as good as live online! Short of actually eating, drinking, living etc. But ANYTHING ELSE? And i mean ANYTHING..is up for grabs!

7: It is indeed, an artistic platform. Bands can perform there! And yes, one can make money. That said? is that, in effect ANY different to the oldest websites, platforms, shares, etc? Answer: no. Just a new iteration. Get with it! 

8: What it is NOT? Free! Seriously. From day one of its inception, metaverse = MONEY! As in PAY. TO. USE! Therefore, connectivity and other costs will rise the more it is used. Trust me! Else why would it even exist. Shock, horror : tech innovators are in this to make MONEY! I know, right?! 

9: Ergo: yes, 'metaverse coins' are already topping 'crypto' / bit coin et al. Fine. Does that mean you ought invest? Well, far be it from me to advise. Seriously. That's on you. ;) Sandbox? De-centraland? Axie Infinity? Enjn Coin? Over to you. Again. It is YOUR responsibility, literally, as a 'responsible' investor/speculator, to dip toes in the tech metaverse waters. And the new currency is part of that. But all I would say? Is that, the tide can change, overnight, as with real world currencies of old, so with new metaverse monies of today. 

10: Yes. You CAN buy land in the metaverse. As in plots of land. But: be cautious, careful and strategic in speculation. Do not be wowed by seemingly impossible discounts etc. If it seems too good to be true..etc. Speculate. Accumulate! But do so, wisely..

A creative drive to learn from!  1:   Musician, composer, dancer, choreographer, teacher: rank those in order of enjoyment, priority and fulfilment. Also, how does one intersect with and drive the other?    The musician and the dancer developed together as a child. My parents were musicians and the whole family had to practice every day. I had weekly dance lessons - ballet from 3 and then tap and jazz as a teen- but I also used to find music to play and dance to as my number one leisure activity from as young as 5, when my Grandma gave me and my younger sister our first tiny little transistor radios.  We would get up early, go down to the basement, find the same station on each radio so it was louder and felt fuller, and dance away together before anyone else was up. What CityMapper, Blippar et al CAN'T quite do?

 Or rather? Maybe they DO it. But those features are not yet flagged up or tailored enough.  We have been talking, at some considerable length, regarding the many features and advantages which define travel focused applications of late. And one cannot in any way diminish those strengths. However, it is equally important to note that there are a number of urban themes which pervade the travel experience and it is in THOSE areas where the NEXT big app will take off.  In no particular order, a non exhaustive list, as follows: 1: DISABILITY!   We assume, immediately, a visible or aesthetically obvious point. Wheelchairs and so on. But think of say, DYSPRAXIA? Visual impairment and all the many iterations of limitation on one's ability to be truly mobile. An app that guides them through EVERY step of a journey, beyond simple tips/directions? ESSENTIAL. And in its way? STILL not 'there', yet.  2: AGE!   It is a problem. Older population.
